The History Group
TUESDAY HISTORY GROUP
The Otherwise Club has a history group for 13 + which is the origin of the club and continues to be its foundation.
The group is project oriented groups whose main focus is to work consistently with other people on a agreed area. It could be, and often is, a period of history, but it can also be a topic, like sport.
The history group is really about socialising through work (consistently building up a topic) which is different from socialising through self created play.
There are no tests and no aims academically but to enjoy whatever we do. Nothing is compulsory but people are expected to commit to coming regularly once they try it for a few times and want to continue.
The members of the group meet once a week where, after some information, we do activities. It can look like a traditional form of education with an adult at the front providing some information and some activities but there are two important differences.
Firstly, no one has to be there. If the young person chooses to come some commitment to attending is expected but its up to them whether they want to attend. Secondly, if you do chose to come you don't to have to do anything that is offered.
The charges are membership of the club (£40/60) a term (paid anyway you can manage) plus £1 when you come for my expenses.
You will then be members of the club and welcome to join in the other activities of the club such as Thursday afternoons and our projects and trips.
At the moment, there is one group
